The school year is nearly over!  And so is my "career" as a homeschool mom.  It's been a long, pleasurable journey.  In some ways it seems like just yesterday that I was staying up late at night after putting babies to bed to make sure I had everything colored & ready for phonics lessons for the next day.  We had some frustrating days but for the most part it was a wonderful way of life.  The good definitely outweighed the bad!!  I'm very pleased by the outcome so far.  Of course all of the kids have a lot more life to live yet & the "proof" won't be here until they have kids of their own.  But I think they'll do alright.

I'm looking forward to just being a housewife & someday a grandmother!  I will have more time to work on my albums, sew, crochet, needlepoint, garden, travel, read, volunteer at Kent Plantation House, etc.

In a couple of weeks I will be a great-aunt 3 times over!  All girls, 2 on my in-law side & 1 on my side.  I never get to see them though.

Homeschool convention is in a couple of weeks with graduate recognition on that Friday night.  My last one to participate in.  Then a formal graduation on May 13.  Must get invitations mailed out.  Regional speech/debate tournament in Birmingham the week after convention.  Then Nationals in June in Virginia.  I have all the confidence in the world that he will qualify in several events for Nationals.  He's worked really hard this year especially in Apologetics!  I'm very proud of him!!!  He's a few hard knocks this year but I can see growth & maturity coming from it.  A totally different young man than he was the last time I posted.  God is good & faithful.

The 1st one will leave the nest next month & move south to begin life as an adult.  I'm happy for him & feel that he's making the right choice.  I will miss him though!!

Found another wonderful author.  Susan May Warren is another Dee Henderson.  Her books are Christian thriller love stories.  So far, everything I've read by her, as well as Dee Henderson, have been wonderful.

That's about it for now, my pillow is calling me.

The last two weeks have definitely not been pleasant!!  To find out that my son lies to me, has no respect for me, & abhores all that we've done for him & tried to teach him has left me broken hearted.  All over giving in to his emotions over a girl.

For those "friends" of his who happen to read this, what's wrong with conservative Christians and a Christian worldview?  Conservative Christians & a Biblical Christian worldview are not the same.  We have problems with some of the so-called conservative Christians who are ignorant of history, ignore the Christian's responsibility to others in this world that we know & those we don't know.  It just seems everyone assumes that we are in the same camp without ever bothering to ask what we do believe or listen to what we say, including some of our own children.

You all seem to love spouting off on the internet for the whole world to read all your criticism of your parents & their belief's with none of the experience that comes with age & living life.  Do you ever think that maybe we learned valuable lessons from our mistakes because no one knew to do things Biblically.

Do any of you ever think about the witness you leave when your Xanga rants are the only way some people know you?  What about when the Bible says to abstain from the APPEARANCE of evil?  If Jesus logged on to your Xanga site & read all of the entries & comments what would He think?  One of the things my mother always told me that really made an impression on me was "would you be ashamed or embarrassed to have Jesus with you doing whatever you're doing at this moment?"  And, "you're the only Bible that some people will ever read, what are your actions telling them?"

What would the unbeliever think about Christ & Christianity after reading what you put on the internet this past month?

I'm willing to listen to what any of you have to say.  Are any of you really willing to listen to what I have to say?

Well, it's been a long, long time since I've posted here & no one has noticed.  Which is what I expected.  I'm used to being invisible to people, been that way most of my life.  Out of sight - out of mind.

The summer really flew by!!  The month of August especially.  Jason & I went to Tennessee for LDcamp for a week.  I enjoyed my time with Jill & Lori.  Jason enjoyed all of it with his friends.  The next week I went to Minneapolis for a few days for the annual Creative Memories meeting.  I think it was the best yet.  I thought I would be free to concentrate on my business while I was all inspired about it when I got home.  Before I got the laundry caught up, my  sister called to say that my mother was in the hospital again & was having surgery.  After the surgery, she called to say the surgeon wasn't giving them much hope that she would pull through this.  Well, needless to say, I fell apart & Gary & I left that night for Arkansas.  We stayed for a week in the ICU waiting room.  Mama has made a miraculous recovery!!!  When we got home, we found out a hurricane was headed our way.  Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans so the Petit family evacuated to Alexandria.  We enjoy our visits during their evacuations, but that's a stressful way to get a visit in.  As Sandie said, we need to come up with something different for our yearly get-togethers!  Kati got to stay with us for a month though!  That was good.  Jeremiah is much nicer when she's here.  He would go to school each day & she would work from his computer.  I hardly knew she was here.  Then Hurricane Rita blew through & we were without electricity for nearly a week.  If it had been cooler, it wouldn't have been so bad.  But record highs with heat advisories every day didn't make for happy campers around here.  Gary had to get up & go to work each day after not being able to sleep much each night because it was so hot.  Everything in the house felt damp from the humidity.  The calendars all curled up on the walls, even my paperback book I was reading started to curl.  Ugh!

Now the heat is over & we're having a record cold spell.  And it's only October!  This weekend the clocks will be set back an hour.  I don't mind getting an extra hour BUT I don't like the shorter days of winter.

Jason & I will be going down to Covington next week for CFC.  We had decided not to go, then changed our mind.  I think I'm crazy!

Over the last 2 weeks we got the garage cleaned out.  YEAH!!  All the boxes that I couldn't deal with when we moved in here were put out there.  Now Jeremiah is turning it into a woodworking shop.  It feels really good to get that done.  Now to move on to other things.  There's the carport, cottage, & sunroom to do.

My computer is down (2 weeks now).  My new motherboard came in, but Gary hasn't made it home before 11 pm all week to put it in.  I'm using Rachel's new laptop to type this (she's gone to dance class).  I keep hitting the caps lock key & the screen is hard for me to see.  I need to get my eyes checked.

I hear Arwen coming in the back door.  Our cat can open the screen door & come in all by herself.  She's so spoiled!

I need to go put a pizza in the oven.  It's just Jeremiah here with me for supper tonight.

The only thing that's been interesting for me lately was a trip to Austin, TX last weekend for a Creative Memories Regional Convention.  A very uneventful plane ride (that's a good thing for me!)  The worst part in dealing with airport security was at our little airport in Alexandria.  I had to take my knee boots off, they "wanded" me, & then did a pat down on me.  In Austin coming back, everyone in line just automatically took their shoes off to go through.  I made it fine there.  Don't know why our security gate is so sensitive.

Anyway, the new products introduced at the meeting are just awesome!!  The new limited edition albums coming out for each season this year are so pretty.  A new paper trimmer & a new "thingy" so you can write in a straight line on your page.  So cool.

My mom has been in the hospital again.  Turned out the arteries to her kidneys were blocked so the dr. put a stent in each one.  Should help in reducing the fluid retention but her high blood pressure has been a problem for so long that he said it wouldn't help in controlling it.  If she can just stay out of congestive heart failure that'll be a big improvement.  My sister & brother-in-law are doing such a good job of taking care of her & being there for her.  Just wish I was closer so I could help out some.  My brother & sister-in-law were jacka----- as usual.  My sister was so mad at him last night.  Don't blame her in the least!!  I would love to tell him what I really think.

Went to church this morning!  It's been a while with all my traveling lately.  Then this afternoon my daughters took me to see the Phantom of the Opera.  I wasn't sure I really wanted to see it.  But, I'm so glad I did!  It was a really good movie with the most awesome music!  If you haven't seen it, you really must.

My dear hubby is finally on his way home!  This is the earliest he's made it home all week (9 pm).  He gets to sleep late in the morning & then start his week of working nights tomorrow night.  He puts in enough hours the 14 days he works to make an entire month!

Good night to all.

Ah, the smell of Pine-Sol & Pledge!  It's sickening, so candles have been lit all over the house to disguise the odor.

John & Elizabeth are on a cleaning spree this afternoon.  I like that!!  John has scrubbed the boys bath & is now working on the kitchen floor.  I love that boy!!

With my fibromyalgia, floors are the main thing I cannot do.  Today is a bad day, for pain that is, & to have some clean floors in my house does improve my outlook on life!

Jeremiah has the walls painted in his room & is trying to figure out what he can do with the floor.  The carpet has to go!

We girls had a day of shopping yesterday.  Visited the flea market & found some gloves & cabinets.  Rachel found glasses to go with her dishes at a really good price.  Then we went to Hancock's searching for fabric.  Found some drapery fabric that Elizabeth will use to make my 1850's dress for the "wedding" .  Also got some purple drapery fabric to make me another dress, maybe "second mourning".  Rachel got a 1933 Vogue pattern (on sale) to make her a dress for her New York trip this summer.  We also found some green fabric to make Elizabeth a bodice for day wear & another for evening wear that will match her striped skirt.  All in all a successful day!

My cold is finally a lot better.  Took 3 weeks!!  Can't believe I stayed well with all the kids passing this germ back & forth since Oct. then get sick the instant we get to Memphis for an intense 2 weeks!  Argh!!

Masters Conference was an intense 2 weeks.  Talk about information overload!  Rather frustrating though.  Learning how things work & how other clubs do things all the while knowing it won't be done here!!  Right now our club is a total waste of time.  Until the leadership changes though I don't see things getting better.

I'll be glad when spring gets here & the weather is nice. I'm ready to get the yard cleaned up.  Since we don't have dogs anymore, I want to take the fence down from the pen & use the concrete slab as a patio.
